Footminders Survey Finds Standing Workers Frequently Experience Foot Pain During Long Shifts
Boca Raton, United States – March 15, 2026 / Footminders Inc. /
A new Footminders survey of workers who spend long hours standing or walking reveals that more than half experience frequent foot pain. The findings highlight dissatisfaction with work shoe support and the surprisingly low use of orthotic insoles among workers who report regular discomfort.
According to the survey, 53% of respondents reported experiencing foot pain several days a week, and 42% said their discomfort typically begins before the end of their work shift.
The heel was the most commonly reported pain area, reflecting the strain placed on the foot during long periods of standing or walking. The survey also revealed that foot discomfort often continues beyond the workday.

Key Survey Findings:
- 53% of respondents reported experiencing foot pain several days per week or more
- 42% said foot discomfort typically begins before the end of their work shift
- Heel pain was the most commonly reported pain location
- 32% of workers experiencing foot discomfort said it affects their life after work
- 44% reported dissatisfaction with the support or comfort of their work shoes
- 61% said they replace work shoes less often than once per year
- Only 22% of workers experiencing weekly foot pain reported using orthotic insoles
Despite the prevalence of foot discomfort, relatively few workers experiencing [foot pain from standing all day](https://www.footminders.com/pages/aching-feet “foot pain from standing all day”) reported using orthotic support. Among respondents who experience foot pain at least once per week, only 22% said they wear orthotic insoles in their shoes.
The survey included workers from a wide range of industries where prolonged standing is common. The largest occupational groups represented included restaurant and food service workers, retail employees, healthcare staff, construction and trades workers, warehouse and logistics employees, and teachers.
“These results highlight how common foot pain can be for people whose jobs require long hours on their feet”, said Fred Salomon, a Footminders customer service representative. “Many workers simply assume soreness is part of the job, but supportive footwear and orthotic insoles can often make a meaningful difference in comfort.”
