District utilized stakeholder input conducted by a third-party across a two-month period to develop initial milestones
BALTIMORE , MD, UNITED STATES, March 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Baltimore City Board of Commissioners (Board) is pleased to share the findings from the Community Engagement Report (Report) that was commissioned from Alma Advisory Group (Alma) and share how its findings link to the priorities for the district’s next chief executive officer (CEO). Alma and the Board spent two months reaching out to key stakeholders, including; students, families, community members, staff, elected officials, and school administrators, to gather input on key issues affecting the district.
The community’s feedback informed the CEO’s job description and has been meaningfully woven into the leader’s recommended year-one priorities. The focus areas guide the next chapter of City Schools’ work. Community feedback also inspired a list of values to frame how the next CEO, the Board, and the Baltimore community will collaborate to achieve these goals. The Board will continue distilling these priorities, with assistance from ongoing community feedback.
“From the onset of the CEO search, the Baltimore City Board of Commissioners has utilized community input and promised transparency throughout this process,” said Board Chair Robert Salley. “We are grateful to Alma for creating a full community engagement report. Based on its contents, the Board offers several broad categories to guide the incoming CEO’s priorities. We will continue to provide updates on the search process as we work towards welcoming the district’s new leader later this year.”
Listed below are four identified areas from the Community Engagement Report that we have aligned to inform the new CEO priorities:
Supporting Students with Diverse Learning Needs – Board seeks to improve services and outcomes for students with disabilities and diverse learning needs
School Portfolio Strategy – Board will evaluate and revise its school portfolio strategy to ensure meaningful, high-quality options preferred by Baltimore students and families.
School Climate and Student Wellbeing – Board seeks to cultivate school environments that are safe, promote belonging and nurture the whole child.
More High-Performing Schools – Board seeks to increase the number of City Schools that consistently perform at a high level and deliver high-quality academic outcomes.
“For students to succeed, students, families, staff, the board, elected officials, and community members must work together,” continued Chair Salley. “Several resounding values emerged from the community engagement that the next CEO, the district, and the board will be accountable. These themes include valuing student perspectives, pursuing operational excellence, communicating clearly and transparently, seeking out staff expertise, and budgeting resources equitably.”
The new CEO is slated to officially begin on July 1, 2026. As Baltimore prepares for their arrival and establishes habits of collaborative decision-making, here are some additional milestones:
